Bermuda for Family Fun and more in July

Off to Bermuda

The time arrived for our visit home to Bermuda. We had an easy hassle free trip back through the USA, thanks to our new British passports.

Arriving in Bermuda is always exciting and this time was especially so, as we flew above the reefs and along the north shore before landing. The reefs and shoreline looked stunning!

Once back at our house it was soon as if we had never left. We had family to visit with, get-togethers to attend, lots of cleaning and maintenance, plus appointments…….too much to do in too little time.

Monday brought Grandkids to enjoy

Straight off on the Monday we had Quest and May, 2 of our grandkids to “watch” for the day. We try to do some interesting things with them. This time it was mainly a few walks because we also had numerous appointments to attend.

The best walk was to Hog Bay Level park with Winter the dog, where we hiked through the farm lands, down to West side, back up through the trees, a big loop. It was quite a wild walk as many of the pathways were over grown.

The next several walks were close to home and quite short as it was quite hot, plus it was just John with the grands and Winter.

Meanwhile we also worked in appointments to the doctor for our annuals. I needed a medical in order to get my drivers license renewed. Followed by doing my driving test which was quite challenging….well the part where I had to reverse down an S shaped narrow lane formed by red cones and white rods, in my daughters car which is quite high sided too. However, I did it, and received my new license, thus my freedom on the roads.

Morning and evening feeds for Jesse

When we are back in Bermuda, John, very kindly helps Kate by feeding Jessie her retired horse. Jessie lives near us just below the lighthouse, whereas Kate now lives quite a ways off. Jessie needs, feeding, mucking, water refresh, paddock mucked and a few other bits done twice a day.

May usually went in the mornings with John as Jessie is her pal too. I went along and enjoyed helping under Mays supervision….I was given water duty.

Dear Jessie is now 30, but just as elegantly beautiful as he was at 6 years old.

Non stop cleaning, maintenance, painting, new carpets in lower living room plus main bedroom,

Were some of the projects while back home. We really do not have any time off but I’m not sure we would be happy having nothing to do.

Family times

Visit to Gavin and Katie’s place

Gavin and Katie were doing big renovations in their house and apartment. Plus they were under stress as they had impending visits from various guests.

We did go and visit, admired all the changes and saw all the work still needing to be done.

Bbq, Katie, Lily, Eve, Ethan and Shannon.

One evening we went to their place for a bbq with them and Ethan and Shannon. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch to chat, catch up and eat some excellent food.

The girls, Lily and Evie enjoyed playing their board games too.

At that stage they still had floors to finish, cabinets to go in, plumbing, wiring and more to be done with just over 10 days to try to complete before the 1st visitors arrived.

Beach day for Chrisse’s Birthday

This year we were home for Christie’s birthday and her wish was for everyone to enjoy a beach day together.

All who went were: Chrissie, Ruben, Quest, Mason, Kate, May, and Josh, Shannon, Katie, Gavin, Lily and Evie, John and I; (There were only two family members missing, Ethan working and Rhi away)

This day out was the best! We all arrived at the beach, Angel’s cove which is one of the coves near our house. We tracked our gear along to the cove, started setting up and the day began.

The kids all had a blast in the water, in the surf, playing in the sand, playing ball, running about having fun.

We all contributed towards a wonderful beach picnic which we shared. The foods were varied and excellent!

All the adults too enjoyed the water, the surf, playing catch, and of course relaxing in the shade chatting.

We were there at the cove from 10:00ish until 3:30ish, time flew by while having fun.

Just a wonderful birthday at the beach!

Around our garden

Around the garden all was looking good, our cedars and other trees had really grown all were looking very mature. Of course our very nasty neighbours still dumping and intruding on our property.

But as our gardeners says, “you can’t argue with ignorance” when he clears it away they just dump more. May and I enjoyed walking around, checking the bluebird boxes and picking up a bag of roadside trash.

Ethan and Shannon came for a bbq.

We saw quite a bit of our Grandson Ethan and his other half Shannon, each visit was lovely. One such visit they came from work and we had a bbq that Shannon supplied the meat for. – Our Grandson Quest came down to join us too.

Our amazing meal had flank steak and chicken breast that had been marinaded plus a small lobster. Shannon helped with the barbecuing of the meat, she is/was a chef and really knows her stuff. I supplied the salads etc. it was an excellent evening!

Birthday curry night

Christie’s official Birthday was during the work week, so nobody was up for much. I knew she loves curries. So I proposed a curry Birthday dinner in our place.

No, I do not cook curries, in Bermuda you can buy the best curry for the Indian restaurants. The one we favor is House of India, simply love their foods.
