Heading home to Bermuda

John and I flew to Bermuda via Atlanta. Arriving mid June and staying a month. For the first couple of weeks we were able to get numerous chores done to our place. We also had an invitation to go to our Granddaughter May’s Moving Up Ceremony. She was heading to Year 5 next term.

Meanwhile Quest had earned a swimming certificate too.

John was very happy as Ruben had painted the outside and that meant he could concentrate on the inside. After another year of Airbnb the interior needed a lick of paint and a good deep clean.

In the beginning of June we had May and Quest for the day as they were on school holidays.

Fort Scaur

We visited Fort Scaur and enjoyed exploring the tunnels. Plus the views were stunning.

Next we drove around Somerset.

Looking out from the public wharf, across to Cambridge beaches and Kings Point. There were fishermen cleaning their catch, the bay was simply beautiful.

It was time for lunch and we headed to Dockyard. As it was one of the cruise ship days there were tourists everywhere. Both John and I wanted a Bermuda fish sandwich for lunch. They are simply the BEST!

Quest and May were simply happy with nuggets and fries.

A walk through Dockyard after lunch took us to Mini-Golf.

Finishing up with an ice cream that turned into a sherbet shake ……

Once the schools were finished we had May for a few days. We were still trying to get the Airbnb sorted, but we went for an outing and headed  to the old Nine Beaches aka Daniel’s head.

Daniel’s head AKA Nine Beaches

Once there we strolled about enjoying the scenery

and watching the Bermuda Long Tails.

After which we swam, had a picnic lunch and swam off the beach.

One Sunday we visited Sue, Mark, Claire and baby Nora for afternoon tea. We enjoyed their company for several hours. Norah has certainly grown!

Hawkin’s Island visit

Shannon and Ethan, (our Grandson), invited us to go to Hawkin’s Island.

Shannon works there and I hadn’t been to Hawkins for many years. I was curious was interested to see how the old place had been renovated.

We were picked up at Darrel’s whalf and taken to Hawkin’s.

Once there we could see that there had been drastic changes.

The whole place was changed, it was lovely.

We firstly walked around some of the many trails admiring the hidden gardens, the old hidden messages and the views.

We went to the top of the old building that was a mess even when I was a kid. Now it is a very nice place to stay.

There was a lovely view of the distant islands and the great Sound.

After our explorations we changed into our bathing suits and headed to the beach where we enjoyed a swim and picnic lunch.

We chatted and relaxed enjoying a day off with Ethan and Shannon.

Gavin’s place for a barbecue

A few days before we had to leave Gavin had a barbecue at his place for the family. Our 1st getogather since we had been back. (Unfortunately a few were missing due to work etc) It was an enjoyable evening and the food was excellent.

John managed to spend a few hours with Lily, Evie and May. Going for a wander along the shore near Gavin’s house.

Before we knew it was time to leave Bermuda along with 2 of our Grandchildren, Quest and May.
